Articulation

Upon completion of the Higher Diploma Programme, graduates are eligible to apply for admission to senior years of relevant QF Level 5 programmes.

Articulation to BSc(Hons) in Architecture Programme in Department of Architecture of the Hong Kong Chu Hai College

Graduates are eligible to apply for admission to Year 3 of BSc(Hons) in Architecture Programme at Hong Kong Chu Hai College. Upon successfully completing Year 3 and 4, students will be awarded the Bachelor’s degree in the BSc (Hons) in Architecture Programme.

In comparison to Year 1 and 2 of Bsc(Hons) in Architecture Programme at Hong Kong Chu Hai College, students are required to complete two non-transferrable additional Language Enhancement Elective Courses (L-EC), totaling 6 credits, during their study in the Higher Diploma Programme.

Entrance Requirements

(ii) VTC Foundation Diploma (Level 3) / Diploma of Foundation Studies; OR

(iii) VTC Diploma in Vocational Education / Diploma of Vocational Education; OR (iv) Yi Jin Diploma / Diploma Yi Jin; OR Equivalent; OR

(v) Diploma in Vocational Education / Diploma of Vocational Education (DVE) award upon successful completion of prescribed modules; OR

(i) Five HKDSE subjects at Level 2 or above, including English Language and Chinese Language; Or Equivalent; OR

(vi) Mature applicant of at least 21 years of age.

Qualifications for HKDSE include:

An “Attained”, “Attained with Distinction (I)” and “Attained with Distinction (II)” in an HKDSE Applied Learning (ApL) subject (Category B subjects) are regarded as equivalent to an HKDSE subject at “Level 2”, “Level 3” and “Level 4” respectively, and a maximum of two ApL subjects (excluding ApL(C)) can be counted for admission purpose. A “Grade D or E” and a “Grade C or above” in an HKDSE Other Language subject (Category C subjects) are regarded as equivalent to an HKDSE subject at “Level 2” and “Level 3” respectively, and one Other Language subject can be counted for admission purpose.

1)  To provide students with sufficient fundamental knowledge and skills for architectural design.

2)  To develop students’ concern for the environment and apply the knowledge on sustainable design.

3)  To provide students with fundamental knowledge on historical, socio-cultural and environmental context of architectural studies.

4)  Develop students’ critical and independent abilities to pursue further undergraduate studies.

Career Prospects

Graduates may be employed in Architectural / Interior Design firms, Maintenance Companies, Surveying Firms, Property Developers, Main Contractors, as Architectural Technicians, BIM Technicians, Technical Office and Project Co-ordinators. They can pursue further study for career advancement leading to a career of Architects, BIM Managers or related professionals.
