One of the reasons is that the residential apartment rental fee continues to rise. An increased number of Hong Kong residents cannot afford it, and they only can move into the sub-divided flats for living. Although the rental fee of the underprivileged housings is always low in the market, their living quality are generally regarded as poor.

The objective of this study is to understand the existing living condition of sub-divided units, and figure out the actual needs of the residents.
