Betsy Cheung is born in Hong Kong, but grew up in the Netherlands and is UK educated. She left Edinburgh University with a Masters and Post-Graduate degree in ’91 after which she returned to Hong Kong to practice architecture, registering with HKIA in ’94 and qualifying as an AP in ’95. Her professional experience stretches over more than two decades focusing mainly on design. Her areas of expertise include commercial, residential, retail, institutional, laboratories, infrastructure as well as master-planning.
In 1999, she was awarded the Young Architect Award by the HKIA and subsequently started teaching part-time design studios at HKU Space. In 2011, she joined Chu Hai College as a fractional staff member teaching design studios as well theory-based courses in Building Practice. In her free time, she dabbles in fiction writing and has authored a Sci-Fi novel titled ‘The Reality of The Virtual’ so far.
