Lara Jaillon is an architect and researcher. She has over 20 years of experience in teaching and research focusing on sustainability and architecture. She has completed her studies in Architecture in France (Paris Val de Marne) and Canada (McGill University, Montreal), and subsequently joined the Hong Kong Polytechnic University in 2000 where she obtained her PhD. Her PhD research focussed on the evolution of the use of prefabrication techniques in the Hong Kong construction industry. She then joined the City University of Hong Kong in 2011, where she was an Assistant Professor.
Her research work focuses on Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and life cycle design, carbon emissions, prefabrication, construction waste reduction, sustainable construction and design. She has recently completed a research project on comparing carbon emissions of precast and cast-in-situ construction methods, and is currently involved in research projects assessing green building assessment tools, and the circular economy. She has written articles published in both local and international journals, and conferences.
