Franklin YU graduated from the University of Hong Kong with a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in architecture. He is also an MBA graduate (Dean’s List) of the Chinese University of Hong Kong. He specializes in architecture and urban design, sustainable design, professional practice, and general management.

Mr. Yu is the Founder and Director of Singular Studio Limited. Having practiced architecture for over 20 years, he has designed and managed numerous projects. He is a Fellow, and the Vice President of the Hong Kong Institute of Architects (HKIA), and he is a Founding Member and a Council Member of the Hong Kong Institute of Urban Design (HKIUD). He is also an Authorized Person, a Registered Architect and a BEAM Professional.

Passionate in community affairs regarding architecture and urban design, Mr. Yu actively serves as a Member in the Town Planning Board, Land and Development Advisory Committee (LDAC), Architects Registration Board (ARB), the Audit Committee under the Board of the West Kowloon Cultural District Authority, the CWRB, the Registration Committee of ARB, the Appeal Tribunal Panel (Buildings), and the Appeal Panel (Housing), and he is also a Director of the Professional Green Building Council and the BEAM Society Limited. Mr. Yu has also served as a Member in the Harbourfront Commission, Land Sub-committee of LDAC, the APSEC, and the Advisory Committee on Barrier Free Access. He was a Director of the Hong Kong Architecture Centre and the Chair of HKIA’s Board of Practices, Board of Local Affairs and Board of External Affairs.
