Frederick Wong started his design career working in architecture firms Anthony Ng Architects and Dennis Lau and Ng Chun Man Architects and Engineers. During this time he worked on planning projects, housing developments, offices and mixed-use developments. The scale of the projects varied in proportions and provided training experience ranging from business development presentations, architectural and planning design, Buildings Department approval processes, clients and consultants coordination and project management. In 2002 he ventured into the field of interior design. He worked for BTR Workshop and xact Limited on projects that include residences, offices, restaurants and bars. This was a time when he learned to design in a more intimate scale and with more comprehensive involvement in the projects from research and design to client liaison and project management. He established AWORKS (Architectural Works Limited) in 2005. His works primarily deals with interior design with an emphasis on the spatial experiences and materiality. A process of distillation to an essence of calmness and solidity can be seen in his works. The works are a continuation of the knowledge and experiences gained from his academic and work experiences. He is also a photographer with works published in Home Journal, Perspective, HINGE and South China Morning Post. Besides his design practice he taught at The City University of Hong Kong and continues to teach architecture at Chu Hai College and The Hong Kong University’s Department of Architecture.
